Hot take: Mitsuri and Obanai are not toxic and actually make a good couple

I’m seeing a lot of people say that Mitsuri and Obanai would be the most toxic relationship or a bad couple and honestly I very much disagree with this

1. His hatred for Tanjiro more stems from Tanjiros breach of the Demon Slayer conduct and insubordination during the Hashira meeting. Remember Obanai is a very strict individual who shows no concern for those who do not abide by the rules of the Demon Slayer Corps

He is full heartedly devoted to his work in the corps

Now did he get jealous of Tanjiro, yes 100% but still that’s not really a big reason why he dosent like Tanjiro.

Jealously is a natural human emotion to have

If Obanai were actually as controlling and jealous as he is painted to be he would never let her interact with anyone at all, and there are a lot of male members of the demon slayer corps

He’s protective of Mitsuri not controlling.

The other argument I’ve heard is that it’s one sided and that Mitsuri dosent actually like him, this actually isn’t true and Mitsuri does actually return his affections, in the second fan book it was revealed that she does like him back but is too afraid to confess

“As a girl of a certain age, she gets excited around boys, but she especially likes Iguro, the Serpent Hashira, who writes her letters and is particularly kind to her. She has considered confessing her feelings to him, but her previous experience in finding a husband left her traumatized. Furthermore, she's under the mistaken impression that Iguro is kind to everyone. Thus, she can never quite seem to open up. In fact, Iguro is only ever particularly kind to Mitsuri. Sometimes she consults with Shinobu about love, but they're both fairly clueless when it comes to the topic, so their letters are a bit weird. (Shinobu's advice reads like a scientific paper for the way it goes on about brain responses, heart rates, and blood pressure.)”

Obanai is deeply in love with Mitsuri, but his nervousness and the fact that he feels he unworthy of her due to his "filthy blood which is fair given his childhood

The reason Obanai likes his is because her cheerful personality that didn't let any of the hellish training she had gone through to stop her in the slightest. Talking with her also made him forget all the strife and conflict he had encountered during his past and made him feel as if he was an ordinary young man(which I think is so sweet)

Honestly the only real issue with this relationship is their lack of screen time together
